Kansas City, Mo.— Women Leaders in College Sports (Women Leaders) announced today the establishment of a partnership with  the DeVos Sport Business Management Graduate Program at The University Of Central Florida (UCF).

This new partnership will allow Women Leaders to select one candidate to apply for the DeVos Sport Business Management Graduate Program at the University of Central Florida. One of the top programs in the nation, this program provides an opportunity to earn a Master's in Sports Business Management (MSBM) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in two years.

This potential candidate, if successfully admitted, will have 75% of tuition covered and will be awarded a paid graduate assistantship in either The Institute of Diversity and Ethics in Sport or The Institute of Sport and Social Justice at UCF which will cover the remaining expenses, as well as free healthcare for the duration of the program. Ideal candidates will be recent graduates or women looking to get their master’s degree, must be able to relocate to Florida, and meet other criteria laid out by Women Leaders and UCF.

This exciting partnership is built upon the shared vision to continue to build a diverse workforce within the industry, and to provide increased access and opportunity to women leaders. Women Leaders is proud to help UCF’s efforts to continue to diversify the applicant pool and students who make up the program, and in return provide more opportunities for development and advancement to Women Leaders members.

“We are extremely excited to partner with Women Leaders to continue our focus on diversity and leadership within sports. This partnership will add to our efforts in ensuring that we have a strong and diverse pipeline of candidates coming into the program.” Dr. Richard Lapchick, Chair of the DeVos Sport Business Management Program and Founder of the Institute of Sport and Social Justice said. “In partnering with Women Leaders and other organizations in this way, we are exemplifying the importance of ensuring opportunities for women and people of color at the graduate program level who will then have the opportunity to advance into being successful leaders within the industry”

During the two year program, the Women Leaders candidate will also be able to work on leading industry projects, hear from the best speakers, and have the opportunity to have an immediate impact in various communities as one of the biggest parts of the program centers around community service and using the power of sport for good.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be partnering with Dr. Lapchick and the DeVos Sport Management Program to offer this unbelievable opportunity to a deserving woman” said Patti Phillips, CEO of Women Leaders in College Sports. “This opportunity compliments the many other programs we have to increase the pipeline of women working in collegiate athletics.”

The application period to be considered for this opportunity will open on January 11th and close on January 22nd, 2021. Women Leaders will post the application process for members to access in relevant member area’s and communities on the Women Leaders website.
