Kansas City, Mo.—The Women Leaders in College Sports Board of Directors has selected Julie Cromer Peoples to serve as the SWA Appointee on the 24-seat NCAA Division I Board of Directors.

“It is an honor to be selected to serve with the distinguished members of the NCAA Division l Board of Directors,” Cromer Peoples said. “I look forward to continuing the good work of my predecessor, Jane Miller, and to representing the perspective of senior woman administrators across all of Division l.”

Cromer Peoples currently serves as the senior deputy athletics director and senior woman administrator (SWA) at the University of Arkansas. As a member of the department’s executive leadership team, Cromer Peoples directs the sport administrator group responsible for day-to-day administration of Arkansas’ 19 varsity sports, while serving as sport administrator for football, managing the department’s strategic planning, and assisting with capital fundraising initiatives. Cromer Peoples has over 15 years of experience serving in the SWA role across three different institutions: University of Arkansas, University of Indiana, and Wright State University.

Actively engaged in national intercollegiate athletics, Cromer Peoples has served on committees and working groups within the NCAA, SEC, Big 10, Horizon League, and several professional development associations. Cromer Peoples is currently chair of the NCAA Committee on Women’s Athletics and is finishing up her term on the Women Leaders in College Sports Board of Directors. In 2015, Cromer Peoples was the recipient of the Women Leaders Nell Jackson Award.

The Women Leaders in College Sports SWA Appointee will serve on the DI Board of Directors for a term of three years. She will also serve in an ex-officio role to the Women Leaders Board of Directors. The SWA is appointed to broadly represent the senior woman administrator role as it is fulfilled throughout Division I.

“Julie Cromer Peoples has a wealth of experience in the industry that makes her extremely well-suited to step into this appointment on the DI Board of Directors and broadly represent the SWA role across all of Division I,” says Patti Phillips, CEO of Women Leaders in College Sports. “Her on-campus experience combined with her involvement on the national level has positioned her to make an immediate contribution to the DI Board.”

Cromer Peoples will shadow current SWA appointee, Jane Miller, University of Virginia, at the May 1, 2019 NCAA Division I Board of Directors meeting in Indianapolis before her term officially begins at the conclusion of the May 1 meeting.
