🌟 Rising Stars Spotlight: Olivia Brzozowski🌟

A former mascot, Olivia discovered her passion for athletics while working at a variety of events in costume. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management at the University of Kansas, Olivia is currently pursuing a Master's in Higher Education Administration with an emphasis in Sports Administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Olivia credits her career path to the networking events she has been able to attend including the Women's Leadership Symposium and the 2018 Women Leaders National Convention

Why did you join Women Leaders in College Sports?

I joined Women Leaders about a year ago when I was interning with UMKC Student-Athlete Support Services. My supervisor strongly encouraged me to join because it’s a wonderful organization to get involved with if I am really trying to make a career in college athletics. (Thanks Amelia!!)

What are your personal or professional goals for the upcoming year?

My personal goals are to travel more, do well in grad school, and take more time for self-care. My professional goals include expanding my network and getting out of my comfort zone with different opportunities through my GA position.

Who would you recommend following on social media?

Simone Biles and Chrissy Teigen on Twitter. They are hilarious and very relatable! Another Twitter account I would recommend following is a woman named Mona Eltahawy. She is an Egyptian-American feminist who is an advocate for women’s rights around the world.

What is one way you're looking forward to challenging yourself this year?

I have a lead role in the planning of our biggest student-athlete development event of the year - a networking night for our female student-athletes! I have never planned an event to this extent before, so I am very excited to help take the lead in an event to serve our female student-athletes and start learning the ropes of planning and implementing events like this in the future.

What is the best advice you've ever received?

“Follow your passion, and you will never work a day in your life.” This advice comes from my parents. They have always taught me that you need to follow your passions and do what is right for you, not for anyone else.

Would you rather fly or drive to a destination and where would you go?

Definitely fly. I love to travel! There are so many countries in Europe and Asia I would like to visit. Specifically Poland, Croatia, Italy, Thailand, and Japan to name a few.

What is your favorite Women leaders podcast?

I loved listening to Episode 38 with Andrea Williams. Her story is incredible and she had so much advice that really resonated with me.

Who is your #BecauseOf? Who helped you become the rock-star leader you are today?

Definitely my parents! They have always supported me in everything I have done, as well as my former teammates and coach on the KU Spirit Squad. Every one of these people have instilled so many values that I take to heart.
