The 2017 National Convention: What's New!

We design the National Convention programming to provide relevant, rich, and engaging content and experiences for women at all stages in their careers. Here’s a preview of some of the new technology, programming, and events we’ve added for our National Convention in Dallas, October 8-10!

National Convention App

We're thrilled to be working with our partner Teamworks to develop an informative and easy-to-use app that will take your convention experience to the next level. Stay tuned for more details on how to use the mobile tool before, during, and after Convention!

Small Group Dinners

7 p.m., Sunday, October 8

We know networking with other Women Leaders is one of the main reasons you attend the National Convention. Our new small group dinners, which we'll help organize for those looking for a group, make it easy for you to meet and interact with other females in college athletics.

These casual meals are ideal for sharing best practices and ideas, while getting to know other Women Leaders in a social setting. Be brave and expand your circle! You never know who you might sit next to and what professional doors may open.

To sign up for a small group dinner, just stop by the Women Leaders table at the Welcome Reception on Sunday October 8. Attendees are responsible for the cost of their own dinner.

Leaders Lounges, Sponsored by Ascension and Mutual of Omaha

9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday, October 8
9:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Monday, October 9

Join your fellow attendees in the hotel lobby after Convention programming has wrapped for the day. This laid back setting is a chance for you to network with other convention-goers. And the best part? Drink tickets! They’ll be provided by our generous sponsors, Ascension and Mutual of Omaha.

Revenue Generation Track, Presented by Learfield and Paciolan

As the world of college sports continues to evolve, it’s critical for athletic administrators to understand fundraising and other revenue sources. To help you gain more knowledge of the finances of college sports, we added a Revenue Generation Track to the Convention programming.

Participants will learn from two industry giants, Learfield and Paciolan, about how to expand department revenue through relationships, strategic insights, industry trends, and digital media. The track will also cover technology solutions that create new—and boost existing—revenue streams.

There's no need to specifically register for the Revenue Generation Track; simply attend one session on the topic at each of the Convention’s five breakout time blocks.

Party FOR a Purpose, sponsored by Adidas

8 to 10 p.m. Monday, October 9

This year, we pushed our (formerly known as) Party with a Purpose to 8 p.m. to give attendees time for dinner and networking on their own. In lieu of a sit-down dinner, we'll have snacks and drinks, and instead of a live auction, this year's Party FOR a Purpose will involve a silent auction with items you can bid on through your phone. As always, the auction benefits the Women Leaders Foundation Fund, which funds fellow member scholarships to all Women Leaders' educational programs, including Institutes, National Convention, and other professional development opportunities for women in intercollegiate athletics.

Don't be late for this party: There are lots of fun surprises in store!

Dallas-Area Tours

AT&T Stadium Group Tour
The Sixth Floor Museum Tour
Both 4:15 to 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, October 10

Team up with other Women Leaders at either of these offsite excursions. At AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys and the world’s largest domed structure, you'll get to see: AT&T Stadium luxury suites, radio and media press box, party plazas, Cotton Bowl offices, Dallas Cowboys locker room, cheerleader locker room, post-game interview room, field access, and a commemorative photo.

The Sixth Floor Museum, located within the former Texas School Book Depository building, which chronicles the life, death, and legacy of President John F. Kennedy.

Take advantage of these new features for 2017—along with the events that anchor the Convention each year: our Welcome Reception, Fit to Lead, the Personal Branding Center, three general sessions, multiple breakout sessions, and small group round-table discussions.
