Job Description 

Kansas State Athletics Student-Athlete Services welcomes applications for 2 Graduate Assistant Counselors for the 2019-20 academic year:
1. Football and Men’s Golf Academics 
2. Baseball, Women’s Golf, and Women’s Soccer Academics 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Graduate Assistants in academics will be responsible for assisting in the day to day operations of the Student-Athlete Enhancement Center, including, but not limited to: mentoring student-athletes, monitoring the academic progress of selected student-athletes, supervising study table, unofficial initial eligibility evaluations of prospective student-athletes, recruiting, and other projects as assigned by the full-time staff.  Exposure to our specialized learning services for academically at-risk student-athletes, as well as, New Student-Athlete Orientation, summer bridge student-athlete transition program, and teaching potential in the University Experience course also exist. GA Counselors will also participate in weekly professional development meetings in order to expand knowledge and connect with all SAS staff. Some night and weekend hours may be required.

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required. Ability to adhere to NCAA and Big 12 Conference rules. Must have strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, strong leadership capabilities, the ability to set appropriate professional boundaries with student-athletes, and a desire to obtain full-time employment in the Student-Athlete Services profession. 

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in student-athlete services / athletics academic services.

Compensation
$10 per hour (approx. $15,600) in the first year; potential to earn $12.50 per hour (approx. $19,500) after completion of first year with successful review; paid biweekly (26 pay periods) with medical insurance available.  K-State Student-Athlete Services has a solid tradition of placing its Graduate Assistant Counselors into full-time academic/student services positions within Division I athletics departments. 

Review of applications will begin on Thursday, February 21, 2018 and continue until the position is filled.  

Applicants selected for the position must apply and be admitted into the K-State Graduate School. Graduate Assistants must be enrolled in a minimum of six graduate school hours in the fall and spring semesters. Tuition is not covered by the annual stipend; however, out-of-state applicants are eligible to receive in-state tuition rates.
