Goucher College seeks qualified applicants for the full-time, position of strength and conditioning coach.  Goucher College fields 21 intercollegiate teams competing in the NCAA Division III as a part of the Landmark Conference.  This position is funded by the NCAA Division III Ethnic Minorities and Women’s Internship Grant through the 2019-2020 academic year, at which point the college will evaluate future needs based on assessments. The strength and conditioning coordinator will be responsible for designing and implementing sports-specific strength and conditioning programs for all intercollegiate athletic teams with a focus in enhancing performance and injury prevention.  The coordinator will assist in the supervision of the weight room and cardio fitness center, including staffing, training, and supervising student-workers. The incumbent will also develop and implement programming focused on student-athlete psycho-social and emotional wellness, Title IX, and diversity and inclusion and support campus initiatives surrounding diversity, inclusion, and wellness.


The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred), as well as certification by either of the two NCAA recognized strength and conditioning certification organizations: NSCA-CSCS and/or CSCCa-SCCC. An understanding of and commitment to the values and philosophy of Division III are also required.  The candidate must possess the ability to effectively communicate and work well with student-athletes, coaches, staff and the community.  Evening and weekend availability is required.  Preference will be given to candidates with previous collegiate strength and conditioning experience.  The successful candidate will be subject to a background check as a condition of employment.
