Job Description

This is an at-will position.
Essential Duties  
The Director of Graphic Design will lead the creative process at the direction of the Assistant AD for Marketing & Branding and be responsible for designing high impact visual assets for the department, building brand awareness and affinity for the Cowboys & Cowgirls.  S/he will work on a wide variety of projects for print, digital and social media, and help lead the branding look & design for the department and individual programs.

•Primary role is to lead projects from creative conception to final deliverable
•Design a wide range of creative assets including but not limited to:
•Posters, program covers, game tickets, newspaper ads, magnets and other print items
•Web, digital, email and social media graphics and advertisements
•Unique event logos, t-shirts and large-format signage
•Assist with recruiting templates for individual sport programs
•Manage and prioritize all incoming graphic requests at direction of Assistant AD of Marketing & Branding and keep yearly calendar of graphic projects
•Ensures brand guidelines are adhered to internally and externally, develops a consistent identity and tone per year and program
•Prioritize a high volume of requests appropriately to maximize quality output
•Oversee graduate assistant and internship program, including delegating, reviewing and approving all creative
•Exhibit a solution-based attitude and the ability to work with people with diverse skills, backgrounds and motivations
•Think creatively to develop new design concepts, graphics and layouts
• Develop proofing standards per project to review designs for errors prior to publish
•Show consistent willingness to go above and beyond for project deliverables
• Actively looks for emerging trends in design and branding in sports
• Handles sensitive/confidential information appropriately
• Working knowledge of copyright law related to design and digital media
• Serves as a department resource for all questions related to design
 Minimum Qualifications  
•Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, marketing or related field OR a certification from a specialized design school
•Demonstrated experience in developing branded design work for a collegiate athletic program or other sports organization

 Desired Qualifications  
•Strong knowledge of the Adobe Creative Cloud including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
•Experience with motion graphics, font management and photography
•Excellent time management skills, including managing long and short-term design projects
•Self-starter who can work effectively in teams or on their own to complete projects
•Thrives in an environment of continual feedback with an ability to accept constructive criticism and leverage it for professional growth
•Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to clearly articulate design ideas
•Sharp eye for layout design and awareness of design trends; exceptional attention to detail
•Passion for sports, branding & design
