Job Description
Serves as a member of the Athletic Department Executive Leadership team and responsible for the planning, monitoring and managing of the department’s long-term and daily financial activities. Strong focus will be on long term financial projections including stress test modeling and identifying financial risk mitigation strategies; reporting and measuring to include establishing key financial performance indicators, quarterly executive reporting and market analysis; as well as consistently engaging with a peer network in the industry for benchmarking and sharing of best practices.

Role will engage with University financial leadership and campus partners on all financial matters, planning, reporting, etc. The position ensures the integration and compliance of the department’s financial and accounting activities with those of the university and works proactively to mitigate audit risks and ensure compliance.

Position will be expected to maintain a focus on continual process improvements to ensure operational efficiencies and sound business practices as well as develop, implement and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the organization. Will also collaborate extensively with Deputy Athletics Director, External Relations on maximizing the department’s opportunity for growth through sponsorships, licensing and other external partnerships.

In addition, position will provide leadership and strategic direction to other Athletics internal services in their operating unit that strongly impact financials to include business operations staff; human resources/talent management function; facility management and administration; and Information Technology support for Athletics (embedded positions from central campus).

Lastly, position functions as a member of the Notre Dame Athletics Department Executive Leadership Team and helps set and implement the strategic direction and goals of the entire department.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree (MBA or similar) strongly preferred. 7-8 years similar executive financial leadership experience required. Extensive background in budgeting, financial planning, strategic planning, analysis and financial reporting required as well as significant experience implementing process improvements to ensure operational efficiencies and developing, implementing and maintaining systems of internal controls. Previous experience in business leadership roles within higher education and/or the sports industry helpful.

Ideal candidate will possess the ability to build strong relationships with key athletics department, university and industry individuals to result in strong collaboration and strategy; be a strong leader of vision and people and confident decision maker and change agent; and possess extensive experience in financial management as well as strategic planning and be able to predict and engage in conversations regarding future industry trends.

Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations preferred.
