I was able to play and try every sport that I had interest in through elementary and high school. Softball, volleyball, basketball, track, and cross country…I got to experience them all.

How have athletic and academic opportunities afforded to you because of Title IX impacted your life? Can you imagine your life without them?

Playing sports created a determination and courage within me that has stuck with me into adulthood. I cannot imagine life today without sports because of the competitiveness, the camaraderie, the self-growth, and lessons that you are constantly learning!

What female (coach, professor, mentor, or family member etc.) championed you in pursuing your athletic/academic/professional pursuits? How did her influence inspire or affect you and your career?

My Italian grandmother, Noni as I affectionately call her, told me countless stories about her playing field hockey in high school. She empowered me and inspired me to play sports! She also convinced me that it was solely her genes that heavily influenced my athletic ability.

How are you continuing to champion the next generation of women and girls in sports, and raise awareness on the importance Title IX?

I try to instill values of strength and perseverance within my own two daughters. We participate in races together, I’ve coached them on sports teams, and they have even cheered on their mom from race finish lines! They have strength of character, passion for their chosen activities, and incredible spirit!
